I have over 20 years of clinical experience working with couples who want to recapture the trust, love, respect, and compassion that they once felt. Couple and marital therapy has made up over half of my total caseload. I am committed to relational as well as individual health and wholeness within the context of enduring, committed relationships.
I am practical and skills-based in my initial marriage therapy strategies, as I play an active role in helping couples stop the damage and begin to constructively solve conflicts and grow in compassion and understanding for one another. When the ground work is laid, therapy usually shifts to building intimacy, including its emotional, social, familial, sexual and spiritual components, which facilitate individual as well as relational healing.
Couples work is an important part of my practice as a therapist. Some couples come to me for help getting over a rough patch in a mostly-good relationship, while others come with their marriage on the line. I enjoy working with couples who want to recapture the trust, love, respect, and compassion that they once felt.
In addition to my private practice, I am the Manager of Clinical Training for the MA Psychology program and teach students in Marriage and Family Therapy.
In a world that can divide us, I work with couples to focus on the positive attributes in their relationship and to explore forgiveness for the mistakes that are made along the relational journey. I particularly enjoy working with couples that have children (of all ages).
