My basic approach to therapy is that people have within themselves the resources to get unstuck. It is my task as a therapist to find the door that will access the strengths and resources which couples/individuals have perhaps marginalized or “forgotten” to use in times of stress. I utilize a systemic/narrative approach in which the story of each individual is important for the full development of the marriage/relationship or life.
I have been a therapist for many seasons and had been married for over 36 years, before my wife died of metastatic breast cancer in March 2009. We have three adult daughters and six grandchildren. I have learned to appreciate the creativity required to be married and hopefully the humility to know I still have more to learn on this new part of my journey.
I do work with engaged and committed couples and the whole spectrum of marriages, attachments, and partnerships, as well as individual clients. My office hours are generally on Tuesdays.
